It was an evening of enthralling entertainment, as Julian Hammond of TIPS for Good Management dazzled a 50 strong crowd of CIPD professionals in the art of ‘Brain Friendly Training’. The session, held at the UEA Sportspark, was highly interactive, with highlights including, attendees blowing up balloons and learning Japanese! All of these fun and engaging methods did have a purpose as they served to unlock the hidden learning potential of our people and showed how a novel, albeit slightly off the wall approach, can be applied to both leadership and managing the performance of others. The event entitled “Sizzle & Substance” was a unique insight into the natural way we learn and how some methods of teaching, even in todays modern world, are not only outdated but can be a learning barrier in themselves.
